VaultSap - Privacy Policy

The short version: VaultSap does not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on external servers. Your WhatsApp chat exports stay entirely on your device and your USB-C drive. We have no servers, no analytics, and no accounts.

1. What VaultSap Does

VaultSap is a utility app that helps you organize and archive WhatsApp chat exports on a USB-C external drive connected to your iPhone or iPad. It uses WhatsApp's built-in "Export Chat" feature. VaultSap never accesses your WhatsApp account directly.

2. Data We Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials. We do not collect analytics, usage data, or crash reports. We do not use tracking pixels, advertising identifiers, or fingerprinting. We do not transmit any data over the internet.

3. Data That Stays on Your Device

When you export a chat from WhatsApp and share it with VaultSap, the exported .zip file is stored in VaultSap's app sandbox on your device. When you import it to your USB-C drive, the data moves to the drive. At no point does this data leave your physical control.

VaultSap may access your Contacts (with your permission) to display contact names alongside phone numbers in imported chats. Contact data is only read locally and is never stored, copied, or transmitted.

4. Local Network Access

VaultSap includes an optional feature for local network communication (e.g., transferring backups to a companion Mac app over WiFi). This feature uses Bonjour discovery on your local network only. No data is sent to the internet, and the feature requires your explicit permission via the iOS local network prompt.

5. Third-Party Services

VaultSap does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data-processing services. There are no SDKs from Facebook, Google, or any other third party embedded in the app.

6. Children's Privacy

VaultSap does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app does not collect information from anyone, regardless of age.

7. Data Security

Since VaultSap does not transmit data over any network, the primary security boundary is physical access to your device and USB-C drive. We recommend using device passcode/Face ID and keeping your USB-C drive in a secure location.

8. Your Rights

Since we do not collect or store any personal data, there is no data to access, correct, or delete on our end. All your chat data resides on your device and drive under your full control. You can delete any backup from within the app at any time.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last Updated" date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on the App Store.
